Dogs rescued from Sumter County house fire

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. โ Three dogs were pulled from their familyโs home after it caught on fire Monday afternoon, according to the Sumter County fire chief. The fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. on West Central Avenue and officials determined it was accidental and electrical in nature. EMS revived two of the canines, which are now recovering with their family, while the third ran away after it was removed from the home.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. โ A Volusia County family is mourning Monday after a brother and sister died of COVID-19, the sheriff said. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said paramedic Gerald โJerryโ Jones and his sister, Shyla Pennington, a teaching assistant, recently died. โVolusia County just lost two public servants, and a family lost two of their loved ones, to COVID-19,โ Chitwood wrote on Facebook. According to the Volusia County School District, Pennington taught students with special needs for the last 18 years in several schools. โWe really do not believe she contracted this at a school or at a school site or school function,โ said Carl Persis, Volusia County School Board Chair.
Semi-truck crash in Osceola County on east I-4 blocking lanes
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. A crash involving two semi-trucks and flatbed truck closed several lanes of eastbound Interstate 4 Friday morning, according to Osceola County Fire Rescue and EMS officials. The crash happened between SR 429 and World Drive exits, according to fire rescue. Six crews from Osceola County responded to the crash. Its unclear if anyone was injured. The crash closed several eastbound lanes and caused traffic backups through late Friday morning,
