Timex hopes its watches are known for more than
just the slogan "takes a licking and keeps on ticking."
Timex is selling some new watches that not only tell time, they
can pay your bills.
The Smart Pass watch can buy gas at more than 8,000 ExxonMobil stations nationwide. In the
Boston area, the watch can buy groceries at select Stop and Shop
markets and in Chicago and northwest Indiana, the watch can be used
at more than 440 McDonald's restaurants. The watches work just like a debit card. You set up an account
and when you pay the bill, just flash the front of the watch in
front of the sensor.Timex Speed Pass watches look like any normal watch and sell
for about the same price. Timex warns you to be careful with the watch. Treat it like a
debit card and make sure it's always in a safe place. Information on the Speed Pass watch is on the Timex Web site.
