PALM BAY, Fla. -- Police in Palm Bay are searching for the vandals who destroyed a family's Christmas display by beheading a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer decoration and stealing packages under trees.Christa Corey said vandals trashed her elaborate decorations late Wednesday or early Thursday."Somebody really did a number on it," said Corey, who is originally from Germany but has lived 24 years on the corner of Emerson Drive and Brickell Street.
Many of the decorations came from Germany, which she visits each summer, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported. She noticed her dog, Snuggles, was upset at the time of the attack but she didn't see the extent of the damage until Thursday morning."I feel sad about it. Why would anybody do that? I had all of these beautiful little Christmas trees, and now they're all gone," she said.Still intact are a life-size Santa and Mrs. Santa Claus that she had in her foyer for fear of vandals. Also remaining is a cherished wooden Santa given to her granddaughter by The Shriners.Corey said she probably won't reconstruct the outside decorations."They might have hurt me today, but I'll be better tomorrow because I have my family, and that's all that matters."It's material things that they trashed and I can work on it. It's OK because they will get theirs," Corey said.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
