Panthers Agree To Terms With Ellerby

POSTED: 12:34 pm EDT May 8, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Florida Panthers agreed to terms with defenseman Keaton Ellerby, their first-round pick in 2007, on an entry level contract on Thursday.

Selected with 10th pick overall, the 19-year-old Ellerby played in 53 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League last season, totaling two goals and 21 assists.

"Keaton is a young, talented and strong defenseman who skates and handles the puck well," Florida general manager Jacques Martin said. "We are very pleased to have signed Keaton and look forward to his continued development and growth into a complete player, who will have the opportunity to compete for a spot on our hockey club."
