Lauren Rowe

WKMG News anchorwoman Lauren Rowe is committed to getting to the heart of an issue.

When she's not anchoring "The Morning News," she is busy producing and hosting Local 6's Sunday night news/talk show, "Flashpoint."

On Flashpoint she has pressed some of Florida's most powerful people and politicians on issues that affect the lives of every Central Floridian.

Before waking up with our morning news viewers Lauren anchored every newscast at Local 6 and covered some of the biggest stories in Florida's history. She was on the anchor desk after the Shuttle Columbia disaster and during the record setting 2004 Hurricane Season.

Lauren has earned an award for oustanding achievement for her work in the special documentary, "Problem Solvers Prime Time."

Lauren has always been an anchorwoman ready to get out in the field. After anchoring the news the morning deadly tornadoes struck Central Florida on Groundhog day, February 2007, she immediately went out to the scene to see and report first hand the damage in the aftermath.

Lauren is equally compassionate about getting out in the community, especially to fight fo causes that affect women and children.

She has been the Chairman for the MS Walk bringing awareness to the fact that Muliple Sclerosis affects mostly women. She is a past co-chairman of the Lisa Merlin House Board of Directors, an agency that helps women recovering from drug and alcohol abuse. And she is currently on the board of directors for "Heart to Heart: A Community Care Program" in Seminole County -- a homeless shelter where women and their children live together while recovering from different forms of abuse.

Rowe, a Colorado native, joined the WKMG News Team in January of 2001. She began her career as a producer and anchorwoman at WICU-TV in Erie, Pa. She then became a bureau chief and morning and noon anchorwoman for WBRE-TV in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Lauren joined WKMG from KSNW-TV in Wichita, Kan.

Lauren graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder.

She now lives in Downtown Orlando with her husband and daughter.
