PALM BAY, Fla. – Firefighters responded Sunday to a brush fire in Palm Bay, the second such fire there in as many days, according to the fire department.
Sunday’s fire was initially reported to be near several structures in the area of the 6100 block of Babcock Street SE, where the fire department said work was underway around 12:20 p.m. to prepare the buildings for heavy exposure protection.

By 1 p.m., the 20-30 acre fire was concentrated around the Malabar Road and Babcock Street SE intersection, where Palm Bay Fire Rescue said roads were closed and that several structures were now in the fire’s path.
The fire department said just before 2 p.m. on social media that the fire was under control, but Babcock Street was still shut down.
Video shared to social media shows smoke from the fire, which the fire department said was “in heavy fuel and quickly moving,” later adding mutual aid was in effect from several nearby agencies.

The brush fire follows another that began Saturday in the U.S. Space Force Malabar Annex.
