$1,000 Worth Of Home's Halloween Display Stolen

Police in Palm Bay, Fla., are searching for the thief who stole nearly $1,000 worth of Halloween decorations from a homeowner's yard over the weekend, according to Local 6 News.

Police said someone crept into 53-year-old David Stokes' front yard at Monument Avenue on Friday and Saturday nights and took several automated Halloween displays, including a mummy and several monsters.

"They've done this two nights in a row," Stokes said. "This used to be a safe neighborhood. They just tore up my yard."

Last year, Stokes had a similar display of hanging witches and monsters. He said it drew praise from parents and neighbors who walked their kids along the darkened streets of the southeast Palm Bay neighborhood seeking out sweets and other goodies, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

"There was even a lady from France who had her kids pose for pictures by the statues. That's why I do it, for the kids to enjoy," Stokes said.

The yard is packed with such Halloween dazzlers as skeletons, pumpkins, even a Count Dracula hanging from the stucco home's cornice.

Stokes said he also had some of the popular blow-up displays along with more lights that he plans to put out much later.

"I worked really hard to get everything up," Stokes said. "I can't believe they had the nerve to do this."
