A new tip in the case of a Leesburg toddler who vanished from his bedroom Sunday night sparked a Friday night search of a wooded area near his grandmother's house, Local 6 News has learned.Trenton Duckett, 2, was last seen in his room at 7 p.m. Sunday. His parents first noticed he was missing around 9 p.m. Leesburg police said a screen on a window in the boy's room was cut and that he was apparently taken through the opening.Local 6 News reported that federal agents, officers and search dogs were combing through some undeveloped land in Lady Lake just blocks from a gated community where his grandmother lives.
All police would say Friday was that a tip led them to the location, Local 6 reporter Mike DeForest said."We are following up on every single lead, no matter how small," Leesburg police Capt. Steve Rockefeller said. "We have volunteer search-and-rescue dogs to help us out. And, we are just looking in the wooded area for any possible clue."Detectives continued to question family and friends about the toddler's whereabouts.'We have gained some new information," Rockefeller said. "The relevance of the new information is being tabulated, and we are continuing to look at everything."Trenton Duckett was last seen wearing a striped shirt and denim shorts.Leesburg police, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI are working on the case. Volunteers also are circulating fliers with Trenton's picture. Police believe the boy is in danger and are looking at all possibilities.Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
