Authorities in Tucson, Ariz., are searching for at least two armed men who have robbed several businesses dressed in clown costumes, with painted faces and foam noses.

Surveillance video showed the men robbing a Payday Loans business located on La Canda and River roads on Wednesday.

Investigators said one of the clowns was wearing a red wig and the other had a black beanie. Both had their faces painted white and bow ties.

"These men painted their faces to the point that they were unrecognizable," Pima County sheriff's Deputy Dawn Barkman said. "We can't even tell if they're Hispanic or Caucasian."

Police said two clowns also robbed a Check 'N Go store located on First Street and Wetmore.

During that robbery, a pregnant clerk was held at gunpoint for at least 10 minutes.

"I've seen both videos and I'm confident in saying they're the same subjects and we're well on our way to a serial robber situation," Tucson police Det. John Dorer said.

Police said someone must have noticed the men during the daylight robberies.

"It's such a unique getup in the middle of the day, somebody had to have seen them driving around," Tucson police Det. John Dorer said.
