COCOA, Fla. -- Cocoa Police have arrested a pastor who they said forced a woman to have sex with him as her spiritual advisor.Authorities said Tuesday that Jesse M. French, 43, who is the pastor of the Solid Life Ministries, Church of Disciples in Rockledge, was arrested on 10 counts of sexual battery and 15 counts of lewd and lascivious acts to a member of his congregation.Police said that several months ago, French told the woman, who was not identified, that he needed to anoint her with oil. She told police that French stated that God advised him to anoint her because she was tired.
Officials said French began by anointing the victim's arms and legs. The woman told police that around the beginning of March, French advised her that he needed to anoint her entire body. French told the victim to take off her clothing, and he would rub oil into her body, police said. During the anointing, the woman told police that French fondled her and penetrated her with his fingers. The woman told officers that shortly after that, she and French began having sexual intercourse. The woman said that she repeatedly told French that she did not want to have sex with him, and that it was wrong. The woman said French would read the Bible to her and "quote scripture" proving to her that God wanted them to have sex.Police said they are concerned that there may be other victims in French's congregation. Since the bond hearing, police have received two calls from anonymous women advising that they believed there are additional victims, but those victims have not come forward.French is being held without bond at the Brevard County Jail.
