Company Sells 'Islamic Jeans' Made For Praying Muslims

A company in Italy has begun selling "Islamic Jeans" made especially for Muslims who need greater comfort and flexibility during prayer sessions, according to a report.

The Italian company, based in the city of Udine, has been marketing the trousers as "the jeans of choice for Islam," according to the Al Quds Web site.Al Quds Jeans, manufactured in Pakistan, are baggy and have a high waist to allow freedom of movement during the repeated kneeling for Islamic worship.The jeans are made of traditional blue denim, have five pockets and are especially tailored for use in the mosque.The jeans also have extra-large pockets for glasses, trinkets and prayer beads, and also feature discreet green seams at the top of the belt loops, in honor of the faith's sacred color. Al Quds has sold 10,000 pairs since they went on sale in Europe at retailers such as France's Carrefour SA, the continent's largest supermarket operator.Luca Corradi, designer of the new jeans, said the design is made by a plant near Karachi, Pakistan, that employs about 15,000 people.Al Quds plans to add a second manufacturing plant in Kuwait to supply the Middle East.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
