Police: 'Bored' Teens Tossed Cinder Blocks Into 114 Cars

UPDATED: 5:42 pm EST January 31, 2006

Two men and two teens were charged in connection with a weeklong vandalism spree during which cinder blocks were thrown into at least 114 vehicles in Palm Bay and Melbourne.

Madison Warren and David Raulerson, both 18, and two teenage boys were charged with felony criminal mischief in connection with the damage, said Yvonne Martinez, Palm Bay police spokeswoman. Local6.com is not identifying the boys because they're 17 and 16 years old.

Martinez said some of the suspects told officers that they did it because they were bored.

"Believe it or not they were picked up yesterday and some confessed," Florida Today online editor Dave Larimer said. "Here is what they said: They were bored."

"They're looking at some serious charges, and the restitution that will go with it," Martinez said. "Their little game is turning out to be not such a fun game, and they're going to find that out the hard way."

Several of the Palm Bay incidents were in the Lockmar Acres area, in the northwestern part of Palm Bay.

Police didn't elaborate about how they found the suspects Monday, only to say that an informer helped them Sunday, Martinez said.

Police charged them with felony criminal mischief because of the conspiracy involved in damaging so many vehicles, Martinez said.

The men were to be taken to the Brevard County jail in Sharpes. Meanwhile, the boys were headed to the Brevard Juvenile Detention Center.
