A pack of pit bulls mauled two senior citzens in two different Brevard County, Fla., neighborhoods Thursday, according to Local 6 News.

"The dogs attacked twice, almost killing both of their victims," Local 6 News reporter Erik Von Ancken said.

Police said three dogs first attacked Lloyd Bloss, 81, outside his home on Nina Jean Drive, located just off Highway 192 in Melbourne, Fla.

He said the dogs charged him and bit his lip, back, buttocks, wrists, arm and legs.

"These three vicious dogs showed no mercy, chasing down Lloyd as he headed out for his morning bike ride," Von Ancken said.

"When I went over to get my bike, she (wife) said, 'They are going to charge you,'" Bloss said. "So, they charged me from behind and by the time I got turned around, they were hitting me all over the place. They were biting me -- my legs and everything else."

When the 81-year-old fell to the ground, the dogs continued to attack.

Bloss was able to escape the attack and call for help. He received 38 stitches after the attack from the several bite wounds.

Bloss said the dogs would have killed a child.

"A smaller person would be dead by now," Bloss said. "Those three dogs are vicious."

After the pack left the home, the dogs attacked another man riding his bike in the neighborhood.

"They grabbed me from all sides and I fell down and they grabbed me everywhere," the man said.

The owner of the pit bulls signed over custody of the dogs to animal services Thursday night.

The dogs will be quarantined for the next 10 days to check for rabies.

The owner has received eight citations over the dogs, Local 6 News reported.
