A monkey at an Israeli zoo has started walking on its hind legs after a near death experience, according to the zoo's veterinarian.
Zookeepers say 5-year-old Natasha has been walking mainly on her hind legs since a near-death-experience with stomach flu. Monkeys usually alternate between upright movement and walking on all fours. One possible explanation is brain damage from a flu contracted by the monkey two weeks ago, zoo doctors said. "About two weeks ago, we saw Natasha she was very ill," zoo veterinarian Igal Horowitz said. "She was in a severe condition after we treated her in the clinic with oxygen, IV infusion and we gave her different drugs." When Natasha was returned to her cage, zoologists noticed the awkward phenomenon - Natasha began walking on two feet. "We never saw such a thing in the zoo," Horowitz said.
