A Central Florida mayor, who is also a doctor, is under investigation for allegedly touching a patient in an inappropriate manner, according to Local 6 News.

Authorities said Kissimmee Mayor Dr. George Gant is accused of sexual misconduct while in his role as medical director of the Osceola County Health Department.

Local 6 News reported that the Florida Department Of Law Enforcement launched an investigation after someone wrote a letter saying Gant had touched patients in an inappropriate manner.

Grant told Local 6 News that he has always acted professionally during his 20 years as a doctor and denied the allegations.

"My first thought was this was somebody trying to stimulate something because the election is coming up," Gant said.

Gant said he can't talk about the investigation because he said the FDLE has not given any details.

No charges have been filed against Gant.
