Bacterial Meningitis Kills Central Fla. Student

Bacterial Form Of Meningitis Is Contagious

A 17-year-old student at Eustis High School died after contracting bacterial meningitis Tuesday, according to Local 6 News.

SYMPTOMS

Officials said Benjamin Kadel tested positive for bacterial meningitis after being transferred to a local Hospital early Tuesday.

The bacterial form of meningitis is contagious spread through saliva.

Health officials said anyone who had close contact, including sharing food, is being treated with antibiotics.

The Lake County Health Department is conducting an investigation.

Several grief counselors are at the school Wednesday.
