PALM BAY, Fla. -- A 20-year-old man spotted hiding in the bushes behind an apartment complex in Palm Bay was arrested after he spit on and kicked an officer during an arrest, police said.
Travis Dean Crespo was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence and giving a false name after Palm Bay police investigated a suspicious person report in the 1500 block of Pinewood Drive, records show.
He will go to court Aug. 29 for a hearing on the charges, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
Palm Bay police said officer spotted Crespo crouching behind the bushes on Sunday and ordered him to identify himself. Crespo was then taken into custody when he began to struggle, kick and spit on an officer, according to reports.
Police said Crespo later had to be subdued with a Taser gun after refusing to sit in a holding cell and pushing a booking officer.
He was taken to the Brevard County Jail Complex in Sharpes where he was held on a previous warrant, officials said.
