ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man accidentally shot himself at downtown Disney over the weekend, police said.

Officers said Giovanny Perez of Haines City and his 12-year-old son were preparing to see a movie at the AMC movie theater Saturday night when the gun discharged.

Perez had asked his son to step out of the vehicle so he could clear his gun, police said.

As he was removing the magazine from the weapon, it fired and hit Perez in the leg.

The boy called 911 and Perez was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The man's injuries were not considered life-threatening.
