MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. -- Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a 19-year-old Indialantic man in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman on Merritt Island last month.Colin Christopher Miller has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that involves a death.FHP Sgt. Kim Miller, no relation, told Local 6 News partner Florida Today that it was not clear if the teen was at fault in the crash, and he may not even have faced charges if he had stopped.
Colin Miller did not make any statements to troopers, but had told other witnesses that he thought he had hit a raccoon or an opossum.Tammi Lynn Taborn, 45, was killed when she was hit by a vehicle as she walked on the west shoulder of South Tropical Trail near Twin Rivers Drive on Merritt Island June 22.Colin Miller, who received his driver's license in February 2004, has 11 points on his license, including five speeding and two nonmoving violations, according to officials.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
