ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Disney employee was fired on Monday after taking a gun to work.
Edwin Sotomayor, a security officer, was terminated for violating company policies and failing to cooperate during an investigation, according to Disney.
Disney recently announced it was exempt from a new law that says workers can take guns to work as long as they leave them locked in their cars. Disney claims the law does not apply to its employees because it has explosives on its property.
Orange County sheriff's deputies were called by Disney management to maintain order and to issue a formal trespass warning to Sotomayor.
Sotomayor was suspended after the incident before being fired on Monday, the report said.
"I feel betrayed," Sotomayor said last week. "Disney is one of the few all-American companies that we have and this is very un-American."
