TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- The trial of a former Jackson Middle School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has been postponed until the fall.
Jury selection in the case of Janet Hughes, 33, was scheduled to begin on Monday, but attorneys asked to delay the trial until Sept. 29, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
It is the second delay since undercover police officers who were meeting at a church to discuss an unrelated case last April said they caught Hughes and the 16-year-old boy in a van parked outside the building.
Officers determined the two were about to have sex, and authorities said the two admitted to having had sex before.
Hughes has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The case will go before Judge Charles Holcomb in Titusville.
