Police said a 23-year-old driver slammed a pickup through the Davis family's home located on Churchill Street in Orlando early Saturday.

The family was jolted out of bed.

"We heard a loud bang and there was dust and fumes everywhere," homeowner Mike Davis said. "We were shocked. We didn't know what to expect."

Davis said when they went to the pickup, the driver was missing.

"I thought I was dreaming," Melony Davis said.

The driver later returned to the home with his parents. He said his brakes failed, Davis said.

Police are awaiting results from a blood-alcohol test.

The car caused about $100,000 worth of damage to the home.

"I'm so glad I have insurance," Davis said.
