WrestleMania Tickets Selling For More Than $500 In Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Tickets for Sunday's WrestleMania event in Orlando are now selling for more than $500, making it the highest grossing event in the history of the Citrus Bowl, Local 6 has learned.

About 70,000 people are expected to attend World Wrestling Entertainment's biggest event of the year, WrestleMania 24, and bring in at least $25 million into the local economy.
Fans have traveled from as far as Scotland to see the event."(I've been) watching wrestling for about 10 years and I've never been to a live event before," Scottish fan Michael McCann said. "I finally got an opportunity to come out here, so I took it."WWE announcer "Mean" Gene Okerlund was in Orlando Thursday night for the pre-event festivities."(Fans) come not only from the United States, our domestic market, but they come from throughout the world," Okerlund said.Downtown businesses said they are already seeing a spike in customers."You can look at Wall Street and see a lot of people out," bar owner Will Tharpe said. "I'm sure the weekend will be just the same.""This is definitely a great family event," Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said. "A lot of people grew up watching wrestling from Florida and we are pretty excited about having this event."The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
