FBI Serves Warrant At Melbourne Mall

POSTED: 1:03 pm EDT March 27, 2008

The FBI, assisted by the Melbourne Police Department and two Brevard County sheriff's deputies, served a federal warrant at the Freestyle Clothing store at the Melbourne Square Mall on Thursday, a spokeswoman for the police department said.

David Couvertier of the FBI said the warrant was connected to an investigation that led to two arrests in Kissimmee in a joint agency operation to combat intellectual property theft, which involved the Kissimmee Police Department, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, the Internal Revenue Service, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Couvertier did not provide details on what the warrant entailed, nor whether any items were seized.

The two Kissimmee men were charged with involvement in trademark infringements.

The combined agencies executed 18 federal warrants in 11 Florida cities, Couvertier said. The searches involved numerous businesses, a private residence, commercial storage facilities, vehicles and bank accounts.
