PALM BAY, Fla. -- A Central Florida woman was charged with child neglect after her 3-year-old son was found wandering alone in a busy street, according to police.

Investigators said Shameka Parker, 28, told officers that she dropped her children off at a babysitter's house in Palm Bay Tuesday.

However, police said the babysitter was not aware that she was supposed to take care of the children.

A 7-year-old was also found wandering alone in Parker's home after the 3-year-old was found in the street, police said.

The children are being cared for by the Department of Children and Families.
