Beach patrol participation is part of a massive effort to track down the elusive serial killer before he claims a fifth victim.

Investigators said they believe the same man has killed four women execution style in the Daytona Beach area.

Gary Stacy, 65, was arrested after he requested oral sex from an undercover officer at Bicentennial Park in Ormond Beach, near an area where students attend after-school activities, authorities said.

"Bad judgment. It's a mistake," Stacy said when asked why he was placed under arrest.

Because of the sexual nature of the incident, DNA was taken from a finger wound Stacy suffered during the arrest and from the inside of his cheek by Volusia County Beach Patrol officers.

Recently, Daytona Police Chief Mike Chitwood asked for help in the search after his officers began taking DNA samples during some traffic stops.

All samples taken in Central Florida concerning the case will be sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement crime lab, where they will be compared to the genetic makeup of the serial killer.

Authorities will not say how many DNA samples have been collected since being requested by Daytona Beach police because it is part of an ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information concerning the deaths is urged to call a new serial killer hotline at 888-619-5734.
