Co-Worker Charged With 1st-Degree Murder

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- A man was arrested on murder charges on Tuesday after police said he shot a co-worker who had claimed that he recently won $10,000 in a lottery scratch-off game. Dwayne R. Smith, 23, was charged with first-degree murder after Kalvin Stockford, 49, was found dead inside an office of Gator Tree Trimming Service, located at 1635 Minnesota Ave. in Winter Park. According to Orange County sheriff's deputies, Smith shot Stockford, who was a foreman with the company, in the head.
Stockford's body was discovered on Monday morning by another co-worker, who called police, according to Orange County sheriff's deputies. Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
