COCOA, Fla. -- A 6-foot alligator was caught Tuesday morning in a Cocoa apartment complex swimming pool as residents watched.
The gator was found at 8 a.m. in the murky swimming pool at the AA Apartments at 1305 N. Fiske Blvd., Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.
Trappers captured the alligator at about 11 a.m.
Residents said they believe the gator crawled from a nearby retention pond and wiggled under a chain-link fence surrounding the swimming pool.
Code-enforcement personnel had earlier condemned the pool because of a lack of maintenance, officials said.
Bill Robb, a certified gator trapper, said the reptile measured 6 feet from nose to tail. He said the alligator would be taken to an alligator farm and harvested.
