TORRINGTON, Conn. -- A man who lost his dog in a messy separation with his wife has turned to the classified ads to get it back.Earle Hollings said he misses "the stupid little thing." Stasha Hollings, his wife of 30 years, gave away Thor the 3-year-old Shih Tsu to a stranger she saw outside because she was moving into an apartment that doesn't allow dogs. He said she also gave away two cats and a second dog.
Hollings put an ad in the Torrington paper, The Register-Citizen, saying that next to his wife, the dog was his best friend. He begged for information about where Thor is. It read: "Last weekend, in the middle of a difficult separation, my wife gave away all of our animals. One of those was Thor, a black and white Shih Tsu that I bought for her two years ago on her birthday. Next to my wife, Thor became my best friend. Please, if you have Thor or know where he is and have it in your heart, call me."So far, he hasn't gotten a response. "I miss the stupid little thing," he said. "I never liked little dogs. All my life I had a shepherd or a boxer, manly dogs. But he's just that kind of a dog that you can't help but fall in love with. As soon as I walked in the door, he was up on his back legs dancing around and doing circles. And that was Thor. I miss him almost as much as I miss my wife."Stasha Hollings said the woman who took Thor “seemed to be a nice woman.""She really wanted the dog," she said. "I couldn't leave the animals there, and I wasn't going to take them to a shelter."Anyone with information about Thor can reach Earle Hollings at (860) 459-7265.
