Tampa motorcyclist killed in crash with turning car, troopers say (Florida Highway Patrol)

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 28-year-old Tampa man riding a motorcycle Saturday night through Hillsborough County was killed in a crash with a car that turned into his path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. at the intersection of Hillsborough Avenue and Montague Street, troopers said.

The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Hillsborough Avenue at what troopers described as a high rate of speed. The other motorist — identified as a 67-year-old Tampa man — was traveling eastbound on Hillsborough Avenue in a Cadillac XTS, FHP said.

According an FHP crash report, the man driving the Cadillac entered the motorcyclist’s path while attempting to turn left onto Montague Street. The motorcycle the struck the Cadillac, throwing the 28-year-old man from the bike, the report states.

The 28-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while the 67-year-old man suffered minor injuries, troopers said, adding the motorcycle burst into flames after the impact.
