Man, 63, killed in Orange County rollover crash

Crash happened on Silver Star Road near Powers Drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 63-year-old Orlando man was killed Sunday evening when he turned in front of a speeding car in Orange County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 6:05 p.m. on Silver Star Road near Powers Drive.

According to a crash report, the Orlando man was heading east on Silver Star Road in a Jeep Compass when he turned left onto Powers Drive and hit the front of an oncoming Dodge Challenger, causing the Jeep to overturn off the roadway.

Troopers said the Dodge was heading west on Silver Star Road and traveling above the speed limit.

The man was taken to Orlando Health Central Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, a 22-year-old Orlando man, and passenger, a 21-year-old Winter Park man, of the Dodge were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
