Crash leaves 1 dead, 4 injured in Marion County, troopers say

Crash reported on US Highway 441, north of Ocala

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A crash on Saturday in Marion County between two vehicles sent multiple people to the hospital and killed one of the persons involved, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at 9:32 a.m. at U.S. Highway 441 at NW 85th Loop, north of Ocala.

According to a crash report, an SUV being driven by a 76-year-old woman from The Villages, was traveling east on NW 85th Loop at the stop sign with the intersection at U.S. Highway 441.

At the same time, a pickup truck, being driven by a 38-year-old Ruskin man, was traveling south in the outside southbound lane of U.S. Highway 441, approaching NW 85 Loop.

Troopers said the SUV entered the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 441 to make a left turn, which violated the right-of-way of the pickup truck.

According to the report, the front of the truck crashed into the left side of the SUV.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, according tot he FHP.

Troopers said the driver of the truck and one passenger suffered serious injuries while two other passengers were treated for minor injuries.
