BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 73-year-old Micco woman was pronounced dead Tuesday night after her SUV collided head-on with a sedan along U.S. High 192 in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wrong-way crash happened around 8:10 p.m. in the westbound lanes of U.S. 192 near Bumpy Road.

The FHP said the woman was driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue east in the westbound lanes of U.S. 192 when the front of her vehicle collided with the front of a 2018 Mazda 3 driven by a 24-year-old Sebastian man.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

The man was taken to a Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, according to troopers.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to an FHP crash report.

The crash remains under investigation.
