Hit-and-run crash kills bicyclist in Bithlo, troopers say

BITHLO, Fla. – A 56-year-old Bithlo man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An FHP crash report states the wreck occurred around 7:52 a.m. on Colonial Drive (State Road 50) east of 3rd Street.

The man was riding a bicycle across Colonial Drive in a southerly direction — outside of a marked crosswalk — when the front right of a vehicle traveling eastbound struck him, the report states.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The vehicle now sought in the criminal investigation is possibly a Ford SUV that would likely have front-right damage, according to FHP.
