POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 25-year-old Davenport man died Wednesday morning after a crash near Lake Hamilton in Polk County, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

The man was driving a Kia SUV westbound on Kokomo Road, west of U.S.-17, when the vehicle overtook and collided with the rear of a Chevrolet truck around 7:30 a.m., according to a statement from FLHSMV.

The Davenport man was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries, the statement reads.

A man driving the other vehicle — identified as being 43 years old, from Winter Haven — was uninjured in the crash, according to FLHSMV.

No other details were shared.
