1 killed, 1 seriously injured in Osceola County rear-end crash with semi on I-4

Crash happened near World Drive

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured early Wednesday in a rear-end crash with a semitruck on Interstate 4 in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened near World Drive around 12:50 a.m.

According to a crash report, a Kia Forte was stopped behind a semitruck in the center westbound lane when a Dodge pickup truck being driven by a 33-year-old Champions Gate man failed to stop and rear-ended the Kia.

The Kia then hit the back of the semitruck, the report states.

Troopers said the Kia driver, a 28-year-old Davenport woman, was killed and the pickup truck driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The semitruck driver, a 61-year-old Lakeland man, was uninjured.

The westbound lanes were closed, but later reopened around 6:45 a.m.

An investigation is ongoing.
