Sonic Prep Player of the Week: Jamier Jones

Jones plays basketball at Oak Ridge High School

ORLANDO, Fla. – Jamier Jones has his sight set on one goal: state champions.

Oak Ridge High School is one of two Central Florida schools, along with Evans High School, in the Class 7A state championship for boys’ basketball.

Jones, a junior on the Oak Ridge squad, transferred from IMG Academy and has made a huge impact.

“We’ve been talking about that junk (states) since I transferred here,” Jones told News 6. “We haven’t had the title since 2018, trying to change that. It would mean a lot.”

Jones is a walking double-double, averaging about 20 points a game. It would be easy to call Jones a “scoring machine,” but he calls himself a “dawg” on the court. And he wants nothing more than to finish this high school ride with teammates he’s known for years.

“This is my first time going to states in a regular public high school,” Jones said. “I feel good just to go with these guys. I’ve been with these guys since... I don’t know how long. So it’ll feel good to take them and go back with them, we’re just trying to win it.”
