ORLANDO, Fla. – The summer-like weather will maintain a firm grip on Central Florida through the weekend, with even hotter weather expected by next week.
The east coast sea breeze will once again develop late Friday morning, then push inland through the afternoon. Winds will increase to around 10-15 mph along the breeze.
Compared to earlier in the week, additional dry air on Friday will keep rain chances low at 10% through the afternoon.
A small surge of moisture from a weakening front over the southeast will destabilize the atmosphere a bit more for the weekend. Models show rain chances increasing to 20% on Saturday and up to 30% on Sunday. A few isolated lightning storms that manage to build will be able to produce a few lightning strikes and brief downpours.
Temperatures will remain warmer than normal (average: 86°) through the weekend with highs in the mid 80s along the coast and near 90 degrees for inland neighborhoods.
A large ridge of high pressure over the Gulf of Mexico will build, increasing temperatures through next week with no rain in sight.
Highs are going to increase into the mid to upper 90s inland and low 90s along the coast, which will be nearing record breaking territory by Thursday and Friday.
